A spectacular fireworks display sparked in Oosterheem, the youngest district of Zoetermeer, on Friday, December 19, 2014, as part of Christmas Lightning event (scroll for video and photos).

Fireworks, good music, snacks and drinks, all were at public’s disposal on the Horeca Boulevard on the catering side of the mall Oosterheem.

The fireworks show was organized by Zenavuurwerk.nl and the opening provided by none other than local councilor Isabelle Vugs.

Entertaining activities:
A “Wheel of Fortune” game allowed everyone present to try his or her luck. Especially for this event there were gazebos set-up in order to let people watch the bright spectacle.

A DJ delighted the audience with music as of 5:00 p.m. After 6:30 p.m., battery-powered lanterns were given for free to children (aged up to 10) for the lantern parade march that kicked off at 7:00 p.m.

From 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., the folks could enjoy the “open stage” event initiated by two youngsters from Zoetermeer Oosterheem. The contest was not organized only to show their talent to the district but also to give other young people from the neighborhood the chance to unveil their skills. A number of songs and a clip were recorded and all these artists, only from Zoetermeer, could be admired on the open stage. Among them, there were also DJs and rappers.

The fireworks ignited at 8:00 p.m., lasted for about 7 minutes and the show could be observed by the whole neighborhood around the Horeca Boulevard.
