False bomb alert at Avram Iancu Airport in Cluj Napoca

A call announcing the placement of explosive devices at two Romanian international airports was received by emergency service 112 on Friday night, but subsequent investigation proved that it was nothing else than a false alarm. The air traffic has not been disrupted during the verifications.

“Following an anonymous phone call received by 112 Buzau over possibility of explosive devices at the International Airports in Cluj-Napoca and Tirgu Mures, a Crisis Committee was instated. According to legal procedures, specialized structures such as SRI, IPJ and other institutions joined their efforts to settle the situation and airport activity was not disrupted as a result of this event. Various checks made by experts from SRI Cluj, showed that the threat was just a fake alarm”.

The director of the International Airport “Avram Iancu”, David Ciceo, said that the threat call was received at around 18.20 on Friday.
