The court in Amsterdam has just announced that the controversial kickboxer Badr Hari can wait in freedom for his trial. The judges reasoned out the decision on grounds that Hari’s work involves a lot of travels. Furthermore unlike the prosecution, the judges believe the athlete is less likely to commit another abuse meanwhile.

The prosecution said the violence carried out by Hari is in fact a well known pattern of extreme violence. Victims usually do not testify due to fear, according to prosecutors. Hari is free but the judge does not allow him to show his face in clubs, pubs, etc. Also his contact with witnesses and victims is forbidden.

Earlier this afternoon the 27-year-old fighter expressed his “sincere and heartfelt apology” for mistreating businessman Koen Everink at the Sensation. “That should have never happened,” he said in a pro forma session in the Amsterdam court. The aggressor severely injured Everink who was left with heavy leg and facial wounds.

Hari said good afternoon after having thought about his actions and tried to convince the judge that he learned from his mistakes. He said:
