National Gepgraphic closed its Instagram account after confusion over app's revised ToS
NG representatives revealed that the decision was taken because of the scandal that broke out on Tuesday, when Instagram’s holding company Facebook, was accused of planning to sell users’ pictures for advertising purposes.
“@NatGeo is suspending new posts to Instagram. We are very concerned about the direction of the proposed new rules and if they [terms of service] remain so, we may close our account,” announced National Geographic in an Instagram post, writes Business Insider. Wednesday however, Instagram co-founder, Kevin Systrom, published a post on company’s blog in which he denies the rumors that emerged recently.

“Since we unveiled the new changes, we have seen that many users are confused and upset. So we are going to revise only certain parts of the ToS, to explain more clearly what will happen to your photos,” he wrote.
Systrom claims that “Instagram has no intention to sell users’ photos”, but intends to integrate the photo-sharing platform with “innovative forms of advertising, which seems appropriate for the site.”
He said that “Instagram screwed up by not properly explaining the ToS modifications to the public from the beginning, but all the buzz is over nothing.”
