U.S. authorities have thwarted a car bomb attack that targeted an airport in Kansas. A man planned to detonate an explosive device at Wichita Airport (scroll down for video).
The suspect is an employee of the airport and was arrested by FBI agents.
The a 58-year-old avionics technician from Kansas was taken into custody on Friday as he plotted to take a vehicle filled with explosives to a terminal at Wichita’s Mid-Continent Regional Airport.
Terry Lee Loewen was indicted with one count each of attempting to detonate a weapon of mass destruction, trying to destroy property and attempting to deliver support to notorious terror group al-Qaida. The declarations were made during a discussion with an undercover FBI employee.
Authorities said they believe Loewen acted alone. No other arrests are expected.
