Blues guitarist Eric Davis was shot dead on Thursday in the U.S. city of Chicago (scroll down for video report)

The 41-year-old musician aged 41 was shot in the neck and torso and was found dead in his car in the South Side neighborhood in Chicago, according to Chicago Tribune newspaper.

Besides the South Side blues musician, also a church deacon, 74, known for his work with youth was killed in another shooting that took place a few blocks away within half an hour, authorities said.

The local police has not made any arrest so far.

Eric Davis was the son of legendary drummer Bobby “Top Hat” Davis and collaborated with music label Delmark Records.

The guitarist was due to perform on a series of concerts with his band, Eric Guitar Davis and the Troublemakers, in the coming weeks and scheduled also for a show in New York on New Year’s Eve.
