VIDEO: Bogdan Gigina Funeral. Cop taking part in Gabriel Oprea motorcade buried with military honors at Ghencea Cemetery III
Bogdan Cosmin Gigina, the policeman who lost his life last Tuesday while needlessly smoothing the way for Romanian Interior Minister Gabriel Oprea’s motorcade, was buried with military honors on Friday at Ghencea Cemetery III in Bucharest.
Besides family, the funeral service was attended by hundreds of colleagues as well as the IGPR police chief Petre Toba, the general manager of Bucharest Police, Mihai Voicu, the head of Bucharest Traffic Police, Cristian Crai and the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Interior, Florea Oprea.
The case of Gigina’s controversial death appears to cause serious headaches to Deputy Prime Minister Gabriel Oprea, a General and UNPR party leader, since prosecutors must determine if the officer had a motivated purpose in that official procession and whether the UNPR party leader did really have the right to call for a motorcade at the time of the accident.

Such incidents have begun to surface in the written media where websurfers posted dozens negative comments at the Interior Ministry leadership which has now to deal with a harsh online backlash.
Just as that wasn’t enough, the turmoil seems to become increasingly larger in the blogosphere as many citizens are now demanding the resignation of Gabi Oprea. There is also suspected an attempt to cover up the mysterious circumstances of Gigina’s death given the lack of official public reaction from the police combined with the weird move of Prime Minister Victor Ponta who just issued a law that gives the right of SPP protection to party leaders like Oprea. However, there is a deficiency!!! Coincidentally or not, the law popped up in the Official Gazette on October 21, that’s exactly one day after the death of the policeman Bogdan Gigina.
The true fact is that General Oprea’s seat seems to be rattling soundly these days and its chances to collapse are pretty high. It all depends on the reaction of the public opinion.
