VIDEO: Italy – Sweden 1-0 / Squadra Azzurra qualifies to next phase of EURO 2016
Italy has ticked the second victory at EURO 2016 and the team coached by Antonio Conte made it already to the next round of the tournament after defeating Sweden in Toulouse.
Italy is currently the second team, besides France, that qualified to the knock-out stage of the UEFA European Football Championship, after having won 1-0 over Sweden, following a dispute at the Stadium Municipal in Toulouse.
In the second half, Squadra Azzurra showed off a more offensive approach. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was about to miss Sweden’s greatest opportunity (72′) by sending the ball over the crossbar from just a few meters, but the referee had signaled offsaid. Italy had the first chance the scoreboard on 82 minutes when Pelle’s header hit Isaksson’s woodwork. However, that was successfully made by Eder six minutes later when he netted after an individual action ended with a shot at the far post.
It’s quite a surprising performance so far from Squadra Azzurra which is not regarded as a favorite to the title while some voices in the peninsula claim it’s the poorest team ever.
